Privacy Policy

Carte (“we”, “us”) makes an app that helps people decide where to eat. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@usecarte.app.

The short version. We collect what we need to pick dinner with you. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show ads, and you can delete your account at any time.

What we collect

How we use it

We do not sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to build ad profiles.

Who we share it with

Inside the app, people in your night or group see your name, your votes on that night’s places, and messages you send there. Friends can see your profile and the places you’ve been.

We use these service providers, who process data only to run Carte:

We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

Photos you upload

Group cover photos are stored so anyone with the link can load them in the app. Don’t upload anything you wouldn’t want others to see.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, swipes, nights, friends, Beli connection, and group memberships, usually within 30 days. Messages you sent in a group may stay visible to its members unless you delete them first. Backups roll off on their normal schedule.

Your choices

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by account, and sensitive credentials are stored encrypted. No system is perfect, but we work to protect your information.

Kids

Carte isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we’ll delete the account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and for big changes we’ll let you know in the app.
